Felsenburg castle

May in beautiful Kander valley
Even firewood can be turned into something beautiful.
Depending on ones perspective Felsenburg castle appears rather small…
…or rather big and threatening.
The scenery is just as beautiful as it was many centuries ago.
Built around the end of the 12th century to control the road across the mountains to Valais, now only the thick walls are left.
View towards Frutigen and the Niesen mountain chain.
Wildly romantic and overgrown.
View from above towards the castle. Behind it the tracks of the Loetschberg railroad.
Through the leaves a jewel can be spotted, that … but more about that in the next post.
